The JOC will facilitate the financing, construction, development and operation of the integrated Fortuna project and, from FID, will own the Gandria FLNG vessel. As part of this JOC, OneLNG brings with it Golar’s FLNG technology which is currently being used on the Hillie conversion for Perenco.
Utilising a converted vessel represents a highly attractive development concept. OneLNG (a joint venture between Golar and Schlumberger), Keppel and Black & Veatch are highly capable and experienced companies operating in the LNG sector.
OneLNG is a joint venture between Golar LNG Limited and Schlumberger which aims to rapidly develop low cost gas reserves to LNG. The combination of Schlumberger reservoir knowledge, wellbore technologies and production management capabilities, with Golar’s low cost FLNG solution offers gas resource owners a faster and lower cost development solution that increases the net present value of their asset.
The Gandria will be converted by Keppel who has simultaneously entered into sub-contracts with global engineering, procurement and construction (“EPC”) company Black & Veatch. to provide its licenced PRICO® technology, perform detailed engineering and process design, specify and procure topside equipment and provide commissioning support for the FLNG topsides and liquefaction process.
Black & Veatch’s PRICO® process has been selected for its long established record of reliable performance in global operations over the last 50 years. There are over 25 PRICO® units in operation across the world and it has never missed a performance guarantee or paid lost days for LNG performance. It uses a simple refrigeration system and has a significantly reduced equipment count versus competitor processes. The technology is particularly well-suited to marine applications, being a relatively simple process and design. Black and Veatch approved PRICO® for floating application in February 2010.
