The safety and security of our people and assets is integral to our business. Current events point to a global trend that shows an increasingly dynamic and hazardous geopolitical environment which has heightened the awareness of a potential of a security event impacting Ophir.

To mitigate this, we have a robust security review process which includes measures to create a secure working environment wherever we operate. Our approach focuses on:

  • Risk assessment
  • Risk controls
  • Regular threat monitoring
  • Communication and ability to respond to incidents

We use external risk monitoring services to inform our operational and travel risk plans and, when required, we use third party security providers where we see heightened threat levels. If we use third party security providers, we ensure they are trained in the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and comply with the requirements of key UN human rights guidelines.

Security and risk management

During 2017 we operated in several challenging environments. Our assessments have evaluated the various physical risks our personnel and sites could be exposed to during our operations and mitigations put in place. There were no security incidents during 2017.

Total security incidents per annum:

Note: A security incident is defined as any event that has impacted our staff, including contractors, and our assets.
