On 25 April 2005 Ophir entered into a joint venture agreement with Premier Oil plc (PMO) of the UK to collaborate in the pursuit of exploration and production ventures in Congo (Brazzaville).

A Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the offshore area designated Marine IX was ratified on 22 May 2006.  Ophir has a 31.5% interest, PMO a 58.5% (and is the project Operator) and the National Oil Company (SNPC) a carried 10.0% interest.
